Cores are a very specific piece of equipment that is worn "on the soul"[1].

Descriptor

When "worn", the descriptor appears as normal. Outside of worn, the descriptor is nearly empty. It does not mention the equipment location nor the bonus provided.

Equipping

The only known way of equipping or removing a Core is through the auspices of a Puppet, since that container is capable of moving gear directly into the equipment location without having to manipulate it. As such, even Cores without a level requirement cannot be used by non-Professionals since the lowest level of Puppet is 50.

As a result, it is impossible to remove a Core from a deceased Professional to reduce vitals for a Resurrection.

It is currently unknown if a Professional's Core can be recovered after Final Death.

Source

The only known source of Cores are Legendary guardians' treasures. All treasure boxes contain one Core plus two additional Artefacts of any emplacement.
