The accepted denomination for someone who has entered the Labyrinth is Professional, due to having acquired one (or more) of the Professions of the Labyrinth. Only qualified individuals can enter the Labyrinth.

Alternate designation: Hero, or Immortal Hero, by the Chinese.

Professional Descriptor

Once a person becomes a Professional, a descriptor becomes available. Accessing the descriptor requires holding a person, although, for some reason, holding someone's hand does not work.

Some skills allow the reading of part or all of a Professional's descriptor from a distance.

Professional levels

The level of a Professional is the sum of every one of his Profession's levels.

That level influences the amount of experience obtained from killing monsters in the Labyrinth, and the gear you can equip. It is not possible to equip a piece of gear whose level is above yours. It is extremely hard - regardless of your Dexterity - to hold onto a weapon above the level, and trying to wear gear above your level is not only extremely uncomfortable, but does not provide any of its bonus.

Non-Professionals appear to have a level of zero, meaning they can wear any piece of gear whose level is zero or none.

Professional vs non-Professionals

As soon as a person gains Professional status, a number of abilities become available and certain changes occur.

Most important is the regeneration ability. A Professional regenerates its lost health and wounds at a rate that is impossible for a non-Professional, making even a level 1 Professional harder to kill by normal means.

Musket fire appears to do something like 10 to 80 points of damage to a Professional's health, depending on hit location. Even the weakest level 1 Professional will survive a direct head shot.[1]

Professional longevity

Professionals appear to age more slowly - or maybe not even at all. It is speculated that the endless growth of their vitals and potentials from the Labyrinth acts counter to the inevitable decay of age[2].

The perspective of possibly immortal beings is going to cause major societal problems. An immortal Napoleon Bonaparte fills the British with dread.
