The Labyrinth Studies Archives was originally a simple branch of the Royal Society, tasked by the Royal Labyrinth Company to collect and organize all their findings.

After the dissolution of the Company in 1816, the 2nd Marquess of Northampton, Lord Compton, took upon himself to formally establish the Labyrinth Studies Archives (colloquially referred to as just The Archives) in legal form so that the various fellows of the Royal Society could continue to operate legally in the Labyrinth without being subjected to conflicts of interest from commercial entities.

The Labyrinth Studies Archives publish regularly a Compendium of the Known Zones, updated with the latest information about zone particularities, Gates, lairs and Plaza Professions[1].
