Professional Burden is an advanced concept in Professional culture, based on Experience mechanics.

Base of Burden

The experience earned from defeating a creature in the Labyrinth is shared among every Professional involved in fight, either directly, or by being a member of a team whose member(s) have been involved.

The total experience is calculated based on the creature's level, modified relative to the average level of every involved Professional. The currently accepted formula for a normal creature is:

Base XP = 240 + creaturelevel × 6

Effective XP = base XP × (100+creaturelevel)/(100+averagelevel) if creaturelevel < averagelevel

or

Effective XP = base XP × (500+creaturelevel)/(500+averagelevel) if creaturelevel > averagelevel

Split

The effective XP is split among every Professional based on their number of Professions. If a creature is defeated by a Professional with 3 Professions, one with 4, and one with 5, then the experience will be split in 12, and the first Professional earns 3 shares, the second one 4, and the last one 5.

Each professional also requires an amount of XP to level that is proportional to the number of Profession they have. Therefore, each Professional in a fight earns the same % of their level than everyone else - if they are all of the same level in the current profession.

Burden

The term Professional Burden applies to the number of Professions that a Professional brings vs the effective power derived from those Professions. Each additional Profession increase the number of shares used in the XP split, thus reducing the % of the level earned for a given fight. All things being equal (same levels, same number of participants), the more Professions the team members have, the less percentage of progression is obtained from the death of the creature.

It is therefore expected that each additional Profession should add as much power as possible to compensate for the increased "burden" that the additional share imposes on every participants, thus allowing the participants to kill higher levels.
