As Lord Chancellor, he directs the efforts to secure the safety of the United Kingdom during the crisis caused by the shutdown of the [[Great Gates|Great Gate]] of London. Securing a cooperation agreement with the USA is part of his efforts, but he fears this might not be enough.&lt;br /&gt;

== Historical notes ==&lt;br /&gt;
He is First Earl of Eldon, and the Lord High Chancellor, which outranks, in theory, the Prime Minister even today. In normal history, he held that post from 1801 to 1827 with a small interruption, so there’s little reason why he wouldn’t be named Lord Chancellor after less than six months of divergent history, and none why he should have been replaced.
